SReerAma’s VAnara-sEna — the army of Apes, Bears, and Monkeys — had reached the southern ocean and were about to build the land bridge known as SRee-rAma-sEtu. It has been spotted in NASA’s satellite photos in the stretch of ocean between India and Srilanka, as we all know. So it is a historical landmark and not just a "Hindu myth" as some anti-Indians might protest.
At the auspicious moment of the Bridge Building, SRee-rAma’s right eyelid pulsated and that indicated according to Sakuna vidyA (सामुद्रिकाशास्त्रम्) that the Prince was going to be soon victorious and was going to reunite with his beloved who was imprisoned in the demonic rAvaNa’s garden.— aSOkavanika.
Exactly then, the left eyelid of the demon king also pulsed predicting his downfall caused by his arrogance and lust for other people’s wives and annihilation by SRee-rAma.
Again, exactly at that same moment VibheeshaNa’s right and left eyelids pulsated together, which prognosticated that he was, sadly, going to lose his elder brother, but he would, happily, gain the rulership of the kingdom. For him the omen was double edged! He must have smiled through tears then!
Whether SakunavidyA is a SAstRam (सामुद्रिकाशास्त्रम्) or not, the events did happen according to MahaRshi VAlmeeki’s epic and hundreds of other tellings of the epic story: Lord rAma succeeded, rAvaNa was killed, and VibheeshaNa lost his brother but also gained the rulership of the kingdom!
There are multiple references in Ramayana mentioning twitching/pulsating/throbbing eyes/eyelids related to good or bad omens.
