SANSKRIT - A VISION Mission To light up the cultural ethos of our nation and strengthen the integrity and harmony in the society. To make our people understand directly the original Sanskrit literature to form a view of the world and present time from our own perspective. To make Sanskrit an effective tool for social transformation based on Universal Hindu ideals. Major Future Step To observe year - 2000 as `Sanskrit Year' all over the country by all the educational, cultural, social, religious institutions and organisations. Note : 1. Sanskrit Year will be the beginning of the New Sanskrit Era. 2. Observing Sanskrit Year means taking up Sanskrit cause as one of its activities by every institution. Why Sanskrit ? It is found by experience that Sanskrit can play a most effective harmonizing and beneficial role in bringing together people on one cultural plafform, dissolving barriers of sect, caste, language and difference such as high & low, rich & poor, touchable & untouchable. 2. Culture and language are inseparable and complementary to each other. Reviving the language is rejuvenating the culture. 3. One common cultural language is an ideological `must' for the harmonious and unified exist ence of a nation. It is an attempt to make Sanskrit more intelligible to the common man. Sanskrit being mother of all Bharatiya languages, popularising Sanskrit will help enrich all languages and make every linguistic group intelligible to each other better. 4. Sanskrit is the gate-way to the rich scientific heritage of India. Why Sanskrit Year? 1 . To inspire all social, cultural, religious, educational institutions and Organisation to come together on one common plafform for recharging the genuine spirit of Hindu Nationalism. 2. To give a powerful fillip to cultural renaissance. 3. To bridge the gap between past and present, ancient and modern. 4. To create an opportunity for a giant leap to achieve the cause of Sanskrit. Plans and Principles 1 . Teaching simple spoken Sanskrit; Kindling interest; Developing awareness. 2. Expanding the Sevavrati Cadre;Training instructors in a big way recruiting them from the general public; Building-up an `infrastructure' all over the country. 3. Publishing learning materials on a large scale in all the regional scripts. 4. Populadsing `Teaching Sanskrit through Sanskrit' in Schools and Colleges. 5. Involving all institutions and organisations; Making it a movement. Major Thrust To fulfil the vision of Swami Vivekananda, teaching Sanskrit to `Upekshita Bhandhus' and the deprived sections of the Society to raise their cultural status and bring prestige. Conducting classes exclusively for such sections and showing the results. (Swamy Vivekananda's statement: `` ........... The only safety, I tell you men who belong to the lower castes, the only way to raise your condition is to study Sanskrit'' `` ............ The ideas must be taught in the language of the people, at the same time Samksrit education must go on along with it, because the very sound of Sanskrit words give a prestige and a power and a strength to the race.''
